BRAND DEVELOPMENT

At the heart of every campaign, is a strong brand identity

I love to get to know brands by understanding the leaders vision, and helping them create an identity that an audience can connect with. From creating branding material for a guesthouse in Cambodia whose profits support Cambodian youth to learn how to code, to being part of the rebrand preparation of the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences, all the way to making my very own brand

CREATING THE SOFIA BRAND

The Challenge

Every time I opened my laptop to refine my CV something felt off. It lacked a sense of purpose and 'je ne sais quoi'. I realised I had to take 50 steps back and look at the big picture. So I challenged myself to do some serious self interrogation, I discovered what matters to me, who I am and where I want to be. I realised, if I can't make a brand for myself, how could I do it for anyone else? So here we are!

The logo features the word 'SOFIA' in bold, uppercase pink letters. The dot above the letter 'i' is stylized to resemble a pink leaf.

The Work

  1. Discovery - Starting from the basics I used techniques commonly used for brand strategy, and coaching combined with me looking into the distance thinking about life. Until I eventually had on paper who I admire, what I love, what I am great at, and what I value.

  2. Mood-boarding - From here I looked up my role models, to help me understand what it was about them that I admired so much. When I wrote the key traits of my role models I was describing myself and who I want to be.

  3. Finding a look and feel - Once I found where, I assessed what colours, voice, tone, and my unique selling point

  4. Creation -

    • Logo - Using Procreate, I drafted a couple of logo ideas. Once I chose a logo, I opened Adobe Illustrator to find a font that matched. Using the pencil tool I recreated the personalised 'í' that embodied a sense of nature, connectivity and fiery innovation. From here I created wallpapers that fit my colour scheme.

    • Website - With each page, I have tried to fit the same sense of identity that I have been refining in this process.

A moodboard featuring different brands and design elements. The board includes images and text from brands like Oatly, Humble Crumble, Proper, and Duolingo, showcasing a mix of playful, modern, and creative styles.
